Several of our year 11 and year 12 pupils had a day of discovery today at CERN - The European Organization for Nuclear Research, and one of the most remarkable examples of international collaboration in science - First they went on a tour, where they visited the CERN Data centre, a fascinating experience for our GCSE and A Level physicists and computer scientists who learned about how the data from the experiments is processed as well as seeing the actual computer used by Tim Berners Lee when he invented the World Wide Web. They then visited one of the particle accelerators and the awe inspiring Universe of Particles exhibition.
